Electronic Sound – Issue 94 – Cosey; Magazine + Single 7″
$31.900
We have the magnificent Cosey Fanni Tutti on the cover of this month’s Electronic Sound and a very special Cosey seven-inch to accompany the magazine. The limited edition record is pressed on yellow vinyl and features a previously unreleased track, together with an exclusive remix.
Our interview with Cosey focuses on two projects stemming from ‘Art Sex Music’, her 2017 autobiography, both of which have just come out. The first is her superb soundtrack to ‘Delia Derbyshire: The Myths And The Legendary Tapes’, Caroline Catz’s recent film about the Radiophonic Workshop luminary. The second project is another book, ‘Re-Sisters’, which offers more autobiographical material but also explores the lives of Delia Derbyshire and a medieval mystic named Margery Kempe, detailing some surprising connections between Cosey, Delia and Margery across the centuries. As you can imagine, the subject of Delia looms large in this absorbing cover story.
We’ve got lots of cool support acts this month too. Neu! main man Michael Rother reviews his 50 years in the music industry, including his often fractious relationship with Klaus Dinger, while another of our main features is Editors, whose line-up now boasts Benjamin John Power, aka Blanck Mass. There’s Gabe Gurnsey, The Advisory Circle, Clare Grogan, William Orbit and Maximum Joy as well, plus memories of when Einstürzende Neubauten shared a stage with Showaddywaddy, which must be one of the oddest pairings ever. We’ll be talking to Aphex Twin about his Mud remixes next month.
It’s a total treat to have an exclusive Cosey Fanni Tutti seven-inch with the latest issue of Electronic Sound. Pressed on yellow vinyl, it features two tracks from the sessions for Cosey’s ‘Delia Derbyshire: The Myths And The Legendary Tapes’ soundtrack – with a dark and ominous reshaping of ‘Guitar (Twickenham Studio 3)’ on one side and the equally weighty ‘Amplitude’ on the other. The latter is previously unreleased. «I was working off of Delia’s old patch sheets, all of which were fairly unpredictable,» explains Cosey. «So I decided to record everything as I went along, which was a great way to work, especially because I know Delia used to do that sort of thing too.»
As with all our music releases, this record is strictly limited and is only available to readers of Electronic Sound, so be sure you get your copy right away.
